Scope:
GLE was subcontracted by CPB Contractors to deliver major drainage upgrade works on the Oakleigh Main Drain as part of the Monash Freeway Upgrade Project. The scope involved the enlargement of the existing main drain inlet, including the in-situ construction of a new 1800 mm reinforced concrete culvert structure. GLE also installed a network of reinforced concrete stormwater pipes ranging from DN225 to DN1050, interfacing with the upgraded main drain to improve stormwater capacity and flow efficiency. In addition, approximately 3 km of ACO linear drainage was installed within the freeway median under live traffic conditions. These works were executed within highly constrained work zones, requiring precise staging, traffic management, and strict adherence to safety protocols to ensure uninterrupted freeway operation. The project demanded advanced coordination due to the complexity of working within the central carriageway, proximity to live lanes, and the need to maintain environmental controls and stormwater function throughout construction. GLE’s demonstrated capability in delivering complex drainage infrastructure under live traffic conditions was critical to the successful and timely completion of the works
